Norwood Recreation Pickleball



Question 1: Who is eligible to register and play?

The Norwood Recreation Pickleball league is open for registration by adults, 18+, during advertised registration periods. All skill levels are welcome to join. The league is casual/recreational in nature!

Question 2: When is registration available?

For Fall 2024, registration opens on Aug 29th at noon and ends on September 10th at noon.

Question 3: How do I join the Norwood Recreation Pickleball League?

Click Register in the menu above and follow the instructions over there. It'll guide you through the process. The first thing you do is create an account. Once your account is created, you can register on the website for the Pickleball League (just search in the catalog). You may also stop into the Rec Center and register in person.

Question 4: How much does it cost to join the league?

The fee is $25/person.

Question 5: What if I don't have a partner?

For the Fall 2024 league, you do not need a team to register, gameplay will feature rotating/scrambling teams.

Question 6: Do I need any equipment to play?

You will need to provide your own pickleball paddle. Paddles must comply with the USA Pickleball 2021 Pickleball Standards Manual There are many places to shop, both locally and online and most will advertise when they are compliant with the standards outlined. Here is a great guide in choosing a paddle that best fits your skill/play. That said, if you're unable to acquire a paddle, please indicate that on your registration form and we'll try to help! The league will provide standard pickleballs for all games. Other than paddles and balls, all you need is your best athletic wear.

Question 7: Where and when does the league play?

League play will run Wednesday nights from 5:30p until (roughly) 8:30p at the Norwood Pickleball Courts at Waterworks Park (adjacent to the parking lot that is down the hill behind the swimming pool). The address is 2605 Harris Ave Norwood, OH 45212

Question 8: What are the league rules?

League play adheres to standard USA Pickleball rules. Games will be played to 9, winning by 1 point. Please familiarize yourself with how to play beforehand. Here is a great introductory video on the basics of Pickleball. Reach out if there are any other clarifying questions you have. This league is casual/recreational in nature but fairness in competition makes for fun all-around for everyone.

Question 9: How does the league work?

The Norwood Recreation Pickleball League is a hosted by the Norwood Recreation Department and administered by the league's commissioner.

League play happens Wednesday nights (see schedule page) from 5:30p-8:30p at Waterworks park in Norwood.

When registration closes, the schedule will be released.
